The Gunny Fund: For surgery cost for Gunny

Organized by The Gunny Fund

Gunny is slowly improving
His recovery is slow but he will recover. His surgery ended up involving almost all of his back. it was the worst case the Vet had ever seen. But Gunny is taking it in stride with his typical "Hey, as long as I got Mom, everything is cool" attitude. His walking has greatly improved. They estimate another two months before he will walk normal again.
Gunny is now out of the operating room.
And it was worse that they thought it was. SO the Vet just took care of it all. It's a good thing. But the bad news is that it brought the bill from $1600 to around $4000 (the Vet does not have the total yet). Please please please donate what you can.
Gunny now has to go in for his second surgery
This was planned. He will be going in this week.
Gunny is on the mend!
Today he really started showing that he was feeling better. Of course he has to continue to be confined as that is part of the healing process. But he seems to understand that things are not going to be painful like they were.

I wish that I did not have to send him back up for the second surgery. but I know it must be done in order for him to be 100% as he was.
Thank you to one of my contributors!
For the wonderful check for $300 that arrived in the mail today.
Gunny still has his Paypal account.
If you click on the "ChipIn!" icon to the right there, you can leave a donation that goes directly to his Paypal account. I have had a few people that have had problems with the ChipIn portion. If that is the case for you, Gunny's Paypal account is still earthdogger@q.com

Thanks again!

The surgery is done and a success
But what a shock to find out that it is $1600 more than originally quoted!

I would do anything for Gunny though.
Update: 1/25/2011
Gunny is now safe in the arms of the Oregon Veterinary Specialty Hospital 175 miles northwest in Beaverton Oregon...

They are going to do some extensive testing to make sure exactly what he needs for surgery, and then they will start.

Thank you to all that have donated so far. Please spread the word.

A special thanks to my friend Claire who basically dropped what she was doing and made the round trip to deliver Gunny to OVSH at a moment's notice.

Thank you,

Sussie and Gunny
